I’m Alp Çakın — a Computer Science Engineering student at the University of Pécs, Hungary — originally from Turkey — graduating in January 2027. But “student” is just one layer of what I do.
I’m a funded forex trader with The5ers, running a discretionary system on short-term timeframes. Alongside that, I’m building toward a career in data analysis and data engineering, with a strong pull toward the intersection of finance and technology.
On alpcakin.com, I write about the things I’m genuinely trying to understand: macroeconomics, country-level financial crises, market dynamics, and the quantitative side of how markets behave. Not academic summaries — my own thinking, worked through in public.
I’m comfortable moving between building systems and analyzing data, which is where most of my interesting work lives.
